REALLY??

The first REALLY?? is courtesy of Mr. Tori Hunter...

"People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they're African-American. They're not us. They're impostors. Even people I know come up and say: 'Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero? Is he a black player?' I say, 'Come on, he's Dominican. He's not black.'
As African-American players, we have a theory that baseball can go get an imitator and pass them off as us. It's like they had to get some kind of dark faces, so they go to the Dominican or Venezuela because you can get them cheaper. It's like, 'Why should I get this kid from the South Side of Chicago and have Scott Boras represent him and pay him $5 million when you can get a Dominican guy for a bag of chips?' ... I'm telling you, it's sad."
Tori?? REALLY?? I have not had the privilege of hopping into Hunters pantry and munching away at his 10 year old 300 million dollar Fritos (Alex RODRIGUEZ) or maybe even his brand new Doritos (0 games pitched by the CUBAN defector Aroldis Chapman) which are worth at least 30 million and up 50 million if its packaged right in a couple of years.

Mr. Hunter if you're good, you're good! Teams are not in the BUSINESS of losing and they WILL pay you your worth and your worth, Mr. Hunter, is what the market values you at..... and about Boras.....The man has a more diverse lineup then the UN...If you are good he will find you, regardless of race

Back for my second update on the big mediocre free agent landscape

  • Boldin's a Raven ending a 3 year year "I swear I'm gonna leave your ass if you do that again" stint by Arizona... BREAKING signs a 4 year 28 million dollar extension...
  • Porter's released.....again but with a million more reasons to smile (bonus he was due this week)
More NFL news
  • Roethlisberger seems to forget which side of the ball he's on because for the second time he having to place defense off the field....piece on the whole situation coming soon

2 Lions 2 early 4 Tigers and 2 Bears

  • It's official the potential "through the roof" Reggie Bush Julius Peppers (that word should have an athletic word ban unless your Barry Bonds and go through puberty at 36) signs a 6 year 72 million dollar MONSTER DEAL just 14 hours after free agency officially began.14 hours? Talk about efficiency hmm? Since teams "technically" are not allowed to contact a player about any offers prior to 12 AM last night/morning...Not quite Big Al's Haynesworth money but you will not catch him collecting coupons on aisle 6 at Wal-Mart...

  • Also Chester Taylor signs a 4 year 12.5 million deal which I think is quite the bargain if you put him in the right places...

  • Vanden Bosch and Nate Burelson join the Lions...Both are wondering if a press conference is necessary and if so, where they can purchase those head size (eye cut-out) brown bags?

  • Karlos Dansby is trying to figure out if he'll need to pay property taxes on his yacht? MIA bound?

Who Are We Voting For??

0

They got it right with invitations:
1. Toby Gerhart (1736 rushing, 149 receiving, 5.6 YPCarry, 26 total td's- all rushing)
2. Mark Ingram (1542 rushing , 322 receiving, 6.2 YPCarry, 18 total td's- 15 rushing)
3. Ndamukong Suh (82 tackles, 12 sacks, 1 int...Oh and all while being double teamed)
4. Colt McCoy (3512 Passing, 348 rushing, 70.5%, 27 td's passing, 3 rushing)
5. Tim Tebow (2413 Passing, 859 rushing, 65.2%, 18 td's passing, 13 rushing)

Just missed out:
C.J Spiller

and yes that would be the order from most deserving to least, according to the Heisman Mission Statement which is by no stretch a clear cut definition...(you would be hard pressed to find any wording that might restrict personal guidelines from coming into play)
“The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman trophy ensure….”

How do you determine that! I mean Toby looks like the least naturally gifted athlete so does that mean that he had the best pursuit of excellence?(with integrity of course) Tebow, at least by what the media loves to portray, is 70 years away from canonization; So did he show the greatest integrity this year while pursuing excellence? hmm. And no one epitomized great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work better then Ndamukong Suh who had the pleasure of getting his stats ALL while being double teamed! (680 pounds vs 295 sounds like hard work to me!)... and then comes the ever so overrated and unfair "exposure" factor: I looked through the whole website and no where did it say anything about 1. Team wins 2. Viewers 3. That ooh ah appeal?! 4. Must have touches on the ball (D-linemen?)...So why do those four variables constantly receive the highest BETA weights (yeah I just pulled out regression analysis). All I know is that as long as there is ambiguity as to what exactly a Heisman Winner is, then subjectivity and uncertainty will continue to cloud these results...So after the voters cast their votes this coming week, we might not end up applauding the most deserving candidate... but simply the popular prom king of college football.

Sink or Swin or Swim then Sink?

The Matchup is pretty much outlined in the stone; we're just waiting for some old men in suits to professionally color it in.All the talk after yesterday's showings suggest that Bama is just going to roll (n-p intended) over Texas; not so fast my firend! Although Bama did deservingly look like the most well rounded squad yesterday we have to remember it was one Saturday! I am not yet willing to put all my money on anyone until all emotion subsides and we really start dissecting the ENTIRE body of work. If Bama would have played that Tennessee game yesterday, I can guarantee you that things would be different. Over the next couple of weeks the answers to these questions will have to be answered and the Vegas spread will surprise many (a lot closer than many think). Just how good is Florida? Their schedule makes it impossible to really define them...What are the statistical chances that Colt has another game like that? Close to .14 percent just taking into consideration this year's stats, Only once before has colt had a game with a QB rating of less than 119 (no I wont get into explaining it); yesterday it was 81! He's a gamer and a true student of the game so I promise you we can dilute that percentage even more: something like 6 percent. Will the Heisman bug bite? No I am not superstitious but only 1, again only 1 Heisman winner has won his national championship game in the last decade, (Matt Leinart 04') and he is also the only player not to have a major let down in that game.(he just got bit a little late!) So who will win it? Colt, Ingram? Most likely both will be holding the two most prizes possessions in College football when the season comes to an end but no one will be holding both! The real and deserved Heisman analysis after the jump....
